Pioneering eco-luxury retreat offers unique alternative Christmas experience.
This Christmas, guests staying at ultra-exclusive Seychelles eco-retreat Frégate Island Private can look forward to an unforgettable twist on the festive holiday, combining traditional fun and unique interactions with this natural wonderland. Swapping Robin Redbreast for his rare, protected namesake the Seychelles Magpie Robin, guests can visit Santa at the island’s equivalent of the North Pole, Mount Signal; toast marshmallows over a spectacular beach bonfire; help to decorate a real Christmas tree; and release baby Giant Aldabra Tortoises from the island’s nursery into the wild.
Despite its unparalleled tropical island setting, this alternative festive programme for discerning nature lovers still comes with all the festive trimmings: on Christmas Eve, children can hike to the pinnacle of the island, Mont Signal, to meet a special, gift-bearing surprise visitor; and on Christmas Day itself, guests are treated to a traditional Christmas lunch followed by postprandial festive drinks in the library. Children can toast their marshmallows over a bonfire on one of the island’s seven dream beaches, and the day ends with a mouth-watering gala dinner at the Frégate House restaurant.
Those staying on for the New Year celebrations will be treated to a gala dinner, beach bonfire and celebration on New Year’s Eve, before gathering to see out the old and ring in the new with the symbolic release of baby Giant Aldabra Tortoises on New Year’s Day.
